First and foremost, a mental health hotline provides support and intervention services for people who are at risk of harming themselves or others. However, if the risk of harm is so great that you believe serious injury is imminent, stop reading and call 911 for immediate assistance. In other cases, it’s the decision to commit suicide or self-harm that is imminent. Instead of emergency response services, these individuals may seek out a suicide hotline.

For individuals who need more help than can be delivered over the phone, there is also the UNI Receiving Center at 501 Chipeta Way, Salt Lake City, UT 84108. This center does not provide inpatient treatment, but it does offer crisis and intervention services for up to 23 hours. These short-term services include observation and assessment, peer support specialists, clinical staff, and a whole host of other crisis management resources. In addition to crisis management and suicide prevention, the Utah County CrisisLine is a 24-hour, catch-all hotline for residents struggling with mental health issues. This service offers:
This mental health hotline is not connected with a specific crisis and medical center. However, it does serve as a general mental health referral service for struggling individuals and their loved ones. Volunteers are compassionate and highly trained, but they do not offer professional therapy.
